Fare Thee Well

I think it’s time for some new music from my trio Preeper Rhaye MacKay!

“Fare Thee Well” is the first single from our upcoming album, Blackberry Lane.

Also known as “Dink’s Song,” Fare Thee Well is our rendition of a traditional folk song with roots stretching back more than a century. The song was first documented in 1909 after folklorist John A. Lomax heard it sung by an African American woman known only as Dink.

I first heard the song in the film Inside Llewyn Davis and loved it from the very first listen. It hit me straight in the heart. There was something about the haunting melody and emotion in the lyrics that stayed with me, and I remember thinking it would be such a beautiful song for our trio to sing.

“Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” is available now on Bandcamp, along with a new music video on YouTube, filmed on the beautiful Hammond River in Titusville, New Brunswick.

Enjoy! ❤️
