NEW Video - Little Folk Song

I would like to share with you a video for my song "Little Folk Song". The video was filmed by John Marshall, directed by Jason Ogden and edited by Abi Reinhart of Fiftyseven Designs. There are some guest appearances by a couple of my good friends and my duo partner Chris Braydon.

Little Folk Song was one of the first songs I wrote for Far Gone Lullabies. I often have nights where I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I start thinking about things that happened that day, or things I need to do the next day. It's a song about not being able to shut off my mind when I want to sleep.

Hope you enjoy and please share!

NEW Video - Ice Flow

NEW Video - Ice Flow

As we settle into the home stretch of winter, with the anticipation of spring on the horizon, I want to share a lyric video for the song Ice Flow that I recorded on my new album Far Gone Lullabies.

This song was written by my friend and fellow singer-songwriter Brent Mason. Brent wrote and released this song on his album Gloryland in 2005. I’ve always felt a connection to the melody and great lyrics about a relationship between a mother and child. Brent told me he was inspired to write this song after watching a woman push her ill and dying mother in a wheel chair outside for some fresh air ... it appeared to be her last few days at the hospital.

The specific mention of this tune in press reviews has been a welcome surprise.

“Brent Mason’s tune, Ice Flow, was made for Jessica Rhaye’s heart felt delivery” - CBC

“Ice Flow combines folk narrative & instrumentation with a little Pink Floyd spectacle - It’s a dramatic combination” - Leicester Bangs, UK

“Ice Flow is a charming piece” - The Guardian

I am very proud of my recorded version of Ice Flow. It features Gordie Sampson on acoustic guitar and mandolin, beautiful string arrangements performed by the Saint John String Quartet, sweet harmonies by Steven MacDougall, Ed Woodsworth on bass, and drums by Brian Talbot.

The video was filmed and produced by Abi Reinhart of Fiftyseven Designs. It was filmed last winter in Uptown Saint John NB, when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter.

Hope this song and video adds a little warmth to your day.
Enjoy and please share!
