Thank You:: from Jessica Rhaye

My band and I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of you who attended my showcase at the Hotel Café on September 10th 2009.

It was really great to meet everyone (those I had the chance to chat with afterwards) and I hope that everybody enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed performing.

I would like to encourage all of you to touch base and send me your comments on the showcase and my album "Good Things" or just say hello, as any feedback will help me grow as an artist.

Below is my contact information, so please drop a line with any requests, proposals or correspondence anytime and maybe we can do some business together in the future.

Again, thanks to Joel and all the folks at Creative Control for a great event!

Sincerely
xo Jessica Rhaye

on the go!

Today I'm stumbling through trying to tie up plenty of loose ends, which seem to be a constant in my life. Lots on the go, lots to be done and lots more to explore. Trying to keep the train on the tracks moving forward. JessicaRhaye.com, ECMA nominated website of the year, is under going a complete redesign as gear up for the release of Jessica's new site. Of course it is being redesigned by Jessica herself, and it looks fantastic. Some cool flash elements prepared by Sam Blue, which add some nice little eye candy. Official release date for the record coming soon, with a advance release at the Blue Olive on May 14/09. More soon.
Peace.

Opinions are Great

I've started to get a little bit of feedback on Jessica's new record, from the very few that I've actually sent it along too have a listen. We are trying to get all our ducks lined up before we release the album, such as a new bio, website, and to give Jessica and her band an opportunity to rehearse for a few shows in the coming months. The overall response so far has been excellent. Most people really like the album, the acoustic approach, the writing, and they are raving about the packaging and design Jessica created.

Her finger prints are all over this album.

One thing I've learned over the years is that people love giving their opinions on art, positive or negative. I find people's opinions often put a smile on my face. I've had accountants, lawyers, business consultants, friends, co-workers, most who are not involved in the music business, who have heard "Good Things" and aren't afraid to provide their opinions. The comments are all very positive, but the thing that makes me smile most are when people start to get into the specific, such as the song titles, choice of instrumentation, their favourite song, their least favorite songs. It goes to show that people who really like music and buy music, do listen and love to have a sounding board for their opinions, and enjoy giving their insight. What one person enjoys, isn't what another person likes and vice-versa.

I guess the point of my blog would be that artists create art (music/paintings/sculptures etc) for others to review/analyze/enjoy/hate and I think if an artist or musician can create a piece of work that grabs the attention of the people who have listen/review/experience what an arist has created, the artist should feel as if they have achieved their goal.

I look forward to hearing people's response to "Good Things" when it is officially released.

See Ya.
M.

New Album

Some of you may have heard the new title track "Good Things", written by Jessica and Ron Sexsmith, on CBC radio this morning as it was featured by Steven Webb. Jessica will be doing a small show with Brent Mason at Shadow Lawn this Friday night. They will be trading tunes and chatting between songs. I'd call it a songwriter's circle but it is more like dueling songwriters.

Jessica new album has just been returned from the manufacturer. You can see the cover above. Now the real work begins.

DVD Graphics Meeting

Good Day.
Just spent the last few hours in a meeting with Jessica on the status and direction we plan to take with the graphics for her new DVD. (see picture from our meeting). Jessica of course doesn't only star in the DVD, but she is also the mastermind behind the graphic design for all of her projects. The DVD "Good Things from the Stage" is next on her list of design projects.

We finalized the text, credits, thank you's, and overall packaging approach.

Things are moving forward on this project as we sit and wait for the return of her new disc from the manufacturer.

Look forward to sharing all these project with everyone very soon.

"GOOD THINGS"

Jessica Rhaye's new disc "Good Things" has finally been sent for manufacturing. An official release date will be determined in the coming weeks.

Jessica's ability as a singer/songwriter has always blown me away. She has an outstanding voice, but her graphic design skills are as equally outstanding. I've watched her design work on numerous projects over the years and her designs get stronger and stronger. Lately, Jessica's designs have taken an unstudied approach, often having the strongest impact, as you will see from the design below. This is the back cover design for Jessica's new disc "Good Things". Jessica has worked, tirelessly at getting the right "visual vibe" for this album to best reflect her writing and the acoustic approach to the production on this new album.

You might find it odd that I am posting the backcover image but I really think this image by Mark Hemmings is brilliant.

JESSICA RHAYE DVD

Spent the better part of last evening at the offices of Hemmings House Pictures watching a rough cut of the Jessica Rhaye DVD "Good Things from the Stage". The DVD looks great. The boys at HHP have done a fantastic job putting it together. I guess it could be best described as a very personal look at Jessica Rhaye's career and a singer/songwriter/visual artist.

Here is a clip of "Where's an Angel" from Jessica soon to be release album "Good Things"

Jessica Rhaye from Hemmings House Pictures on Vimeo.

We shot most of the footage at the Riverview Arts Centre on a closed stage. Below you can view some of the images from the full day of shooting that we did at the Art Centre. These pictures were taken by Kate Leblanc.

A new website dedicated to the DVD will be live as soon as the final cut is ready.
Stay Tuned.
