Opinions are Great
I've started to get a little bit of feedback on Jessica's new record, from the very few that I've actually sent it along too have a listen. We are trying to get all our ducks lined up before we release the album, such as a new bio, website, and to give Jessica and her band an opportunity to rehearse for a few shows in the coming months. The overall response so far has been excellent. Most people really like the album, the acoustic approach, the writing, and they are raving about the packaging and design Jessica created.
Her finger prints are all over this album.
One thing I've learned over the years is that people love giving their opinions on art, positive or negative. I find people's opinions often put a smile on my face. I've had accountants, lawyers, business consultants, friends, co-workers, most who are not involved in the music business, who have heard "Good Things" and aren't afraid to provide their opinions. The comments are all very positive, but the thing that makes me smile most are when people start to get into the specific, such as the song titles, choice of instrumentation, their favourite song, their least favorite songs. It goes to show that people who really like music and buy music, do listen and love to have a sounding board for their opinions, and enjoy giving their insight. What one person enjoys, isn't what another person likes and vice-versa.
I guess the point of my blog would be that artists create art (music/paintings/sculptures etc) for others to review/analyze/enjoy/hate and I think if an artist or musician can create a piece of work that grabs the attention of the people who have listen/review/experience what an arist has created, the artist should feel as if they have achieved their goal.
I look forward to hearing people's response to "Good Things" when it is officially released.
See Ya.
M.
