<< BACK TO PRESS Saint John songstress Jessica Rhaye earned a nomination for contemporary singer of the year for The Canadian Folk Music Awards. Rhaye was nominated for her new album 'Good Things,' released in May. Also nominated in the same category are Jim Byrnes of Vancouver, Marianne Girard of Toronto, Melissa McClelland of Toronto and Suzie Vinnick of Toronto, who is a multiple nominee. Halifax singer-songwriter Joel Plaskett earned a leading four nominations for this year's awards. Plaskett, whose triple album 'Three' also earned him a spot on the short list for the Polaris Music Prize this summer, is up for contemporary album of the year, solo artist of the year, producer of the year and pushing the boundaries. The awards will be handed out at a gala ceremony Nov. 21 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Que. |
