Jessica Rhaye set for show at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre
Talented singer-songwriter Jessica Rhaye will bring her sweet voice and nimble guitar-playing to Fredericton this weekend for a show at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Rhaye is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.
The Saint John native has just released a new album, called Good Things, and is looking forward to performing some of those new songs in the warm-sounding theatre at the centre. "I like to play for audiences that are sitting and listening, as opposed to the bar setting where they may be talking," she said." With songwriting, you like to be able to tell the stories behind the songs. So, yeah, I like the intimate venues the best."
Rhaye also has other creative outlets. She designs and creates websites and handles the graphic designs and CD layouts for herself and artists like Fredericton blues group Hot Toddy and Carleton County-born rockers Telfer. "I studied graphics at the craft college in Fredericton and I think graphic design and music really go hand-in-hand," she said. "Image is everything to an artist, so I'm able to have creative control over my look and I don't have to hire anybody to do my CD graphics or my website. I can do that all myself, so I kind of save some money there."
Clinton Charlton will kick the show off.
