SINGER-SONGWRITER JESSICA RHAYE SELECTED FOR CANADIAN MUSIC CAFÉ SHOWCASE AT TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL®

SAINT JOHN, N.B.: New Brunswick artist and award winning singer-songwriter Jessica Rhaye has scored yet another coup by being chosen as one of 15 music artists from across Canada to showcase their music to the world’s leading film and television music supervisors and executives at the third annual Canadian Music Café during the Toronto International Film Festival®. Jessica will perform songs from her album “Short Stories” with her band in Toronto on September 12th at 1:00 PM at The Rivoli, a landmark Toronto concert club. Jessica’s showcase is considered even more prestigious when it is considered that she was chosen out of a list of over 200 artists from across Canada. The Canadian Music Café is produced to provide a major opportunity for selected artists to perform their music to the key decision makers responsible for placing songs and recordings in television and motion picture productions.

Jessica Rhaye comments on her being selected: “In all honesty my publisher inquired about my availability to perform at the festival if I was selected… I thought yeah sure, thinking it would be a long shot if I were - so to be chosen by the selection committee as an artist whose music may interest film and TV music supervisors is a real honour and an appreciated opportunity.”

The Canadian Music Café which takes place from September 11th to the 13th and which is exclusive for Toronto International Film Festival® Delegates is an initiative of a consortium of music industry organizations: the Canadian Recording Association (CRIA); the Society Of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN); the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA) and the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA). Jessica Rhaye is joined for the Canadian Music Café by such notable artists as Oh Susanna, Great Lake Swimmers, United Steel Workers of Montreal, Chris Colepaugh & The Cosmic Crew; Simon Wilcox and The Saint Alvia Cartel. Past Café performers have included Chantal Kreviazuk, Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Slean, Matt Dusk, The Road Hammers, Molly Johnson, K’naan, Jully Black, The Trews to name a few.

In the past few months Jessica Rhaye has been on a roll and things don’t seem to be slowing down much for her as she heads into the fall. Following her Toronto performance at the Canadian Music Café Jessica will be showcasing in Halifax at the Atlantic Film Festival. She then heads off on her first tour of the UK, with fellow Maritime artists Dave Gunning and Matt Andersen, to promote the release of her album “Short Stories” in that market.
